15 hours of play, coming from a weighted Quantum R2, my exclusive paddle since they first came out.
Tenon Pros: More pop (an extra couple of feet depth with my standard serve). Better balanced than the Quantum (feels good in the hand). Better grip (slightly tacky & moisture resistant). Good defense, at the kitchen, with tight shots going over that might have otherwise hit the tape. Control = good (down the line drills). Twist wieght = good, not losing grip angle from hard hit balls.
Similar spin with my cork screw serves and top spin drives. Don't expect hard hit top-spin drives to suddenly drop at the baseline. Grittier surface requires cleaning (my Quantum's surface is fiber glass smooth). Minimally heavier than what I'm used to without experiencing wrist issues.
Tenon Cons: Weighted means that tungsten tape cannot be removed or adjusted. Don't expect more spin using the same grip/technique. Graphics = plain (can't differentiate from most other racked paddles). 50% more expensive.
Initially, I wished that I had invested in another Quantum and saved myself 50 bucks. Who doesn't yearn for those first two weeks of new paddle super spin? However, this is a good paddle and even after having gone back and played a few games with the Quantum, I miss the Tenon's solid feel. A good balance between heft for drives and blocking without losing response speed. Now, to find out how long it takes to wear out a Tenon.
