Quanta Pro R4.16

So good!!! The weighting is perfect for me, and the extra grit is giving me the topspin to hit hard drives in. It feels more powerful than my original Quanta with the same excellent control.

Ronbus did what they set out to do, and that was create an improved, straight-out-of-the-box version of the original Quanta. The only modification I’ve made so far is adding an overgrip to the handle to fit my grip preference.

The first thing I noticed was the grit on the paddle face. The NanoBond surface actually has noticeable texture to it compared to the slick surface of the OG Quanta. The increased swing weight and improved balance were immediately noticeable, while still delivering the good power and pop I liked about the original.

It’s the same basic Quanta playability, just with better spin, balance, swing and a price tag that can't be beat. I'll be getting a second one.

Fantastic paddle! First, I'm a paddle junkie. I try new paddles way too often - just ask my wife. I have found a paddle with staying power!I love being able to customize this paddle and dial it in exactly where I want it. I also played with the Quanta and if this paddle's surface holds up better, I see myself playing with it for a long time.

I like the improvement over the quanta r4. This needs less weight to be added. Seams to have better balance. The new grit will be awesome if it lasts. If only 20% better makes it worth it. Such a great value with what you get. Really nice baseline power. Ability to hit drops snd dinks is nice. Hitting speed ups is sneaky good. All of this for a great price.

Just like the original Quanta but with noticeably improved grit and hopefully sans the edge guard issue. Stability and sweet spot seems to have been improved as well due to the added internal weight. This is a very good update to the original.

A few sessions in and love it more and more each time!

Played my first session with Quanta PRO R4 today. It's a solid paddle that plays pretty much exactly the same as the standard Quanta. The new NanoBond surface feels pretty much the same as a brand new standard Quanta with peel ply surface texture. Maybe very slightly rougher but if it is its very minor. So as a result the spin is about the same as a brand new standard Quanta, which is not a bad thing at all but isn't a game changer. The test will be if the surface really lasts longer than peel ply. So far, after one three hour session I don't see any wear. A standard Quanta would usually show wear after three hours so that's promising.

Because of the six grams of built in internal weight the PRO has to be weighted differently then the std. Quanta. My std Quanta R4s are all weighted with 7.5g per side at 3/9 and have a static weight of 8.5oz with that weight. My PRO R4 came out of the box at 7.6oz and I added 4.5g per side at 3/9 (which should have been 7.5g per side total with the internal weight). But that setup felt lacking for drives and pop so I added an additional 2g right at the top center which seemed to fix the issue and now it feels and plays almost exactly like my std Quantas. Final static weight of the PRO is 8.4oz.

The PRO is a good paddle, though not revolutionary. The std Quanta is IMO the best paddle I've ever played. It only has two faults which are the edge guards constantly coming loose along the top and the peel ply surface wears out very quickly. The PRO plays nearly identically to the Quanta and supposedly fixes those two issues. Time will tell but so far so good.
