EV2 is a solid paddle. I can generate good power and spin with it. It is more quiet (when hitting a hard drive) compared to the Ripple paddle. The weight and length are very balanced for my style of play, coming from tennis background (with topspin and slice). Highly recommended if your game is both power and reset. However, I noticed surface scratches after playing just 2 games. These are permanent scratches and cannot be erased or cleaned off. The Ripple's surface does not show any scratch and I have been playing with it regularly for over 6 months. Also, EV2 should be classified as "for recreational play only", instead of "Patent Pending"

Most powerful paddle I’ve ever used. But the only reason I use this one is because it’s the only paddle I’ve found that does not aggravate my tennis elbow. Please don’t ever discontinue it!! And if you do, give me advance notice so that I can buy them all.

control is lacking, power seems good but sweet spot seems small

It is so good. The only drawback is the sweet spot size. Would you be willing to offer a special price to me. I would like to get another one.

INSANE POWER

This thing hits unlike any other paddle i’ve used, the power is just insane and it’s the most fun paddle i’ve used to play with. Along with the power the sound is so unique and is amazing, would recommend 10/10!!!

The EV2 is a great paddle. Its power allows your to serve bombs, counter, and put away balls easily. There is a distinct quiet thunk when the paddle strikes the ball. Everyone I play with always asks me about my paddle when they hear it. It's good for throwing off your opponent because they never know how hard you are hitting the ball. In my opinion, this paddle is better suited for intermediate to advanced players. I bought this paddle when I was a beginner and I had trouble controlling it. I'm a 3.8 now and can control the paddle just fine. It helps to add 3 grams of weight on each side of the throat.

2nd hand review

I let a player try one so she bought it. Then she liked it so much she bought another one "just in case". Now her game has progressed and every now and then she thanks me for it. I've watcher her improve and she's having more fun. I wish I could offer personal comments but I'm sure she would give it stars. Oh, she has no interest in tournaments so there is no problem with lack of approval and the local "rec" folks don't care. If anything happens to her paddle she'll be looking for another. My stars are based on her satisfaction

Has a ton of pop

This paddle has the most pop and you can really feel the trampoline effect. I haven't messed with the mod-ta or new gearbox gen 3 paddles but I'd think this has more pop than those. That being said it's a great paddle for the price and super fun to play with. It's obviously not approved for tourney play and some people at the park might make a fuss about it, but other than that there's not too many downsides to this paddle. I will say I don't recommend for a beginning player, I think it's fun to play with but I would value developing short game first over smashing balls at unthinkable speeds with this paddle.

Ronbus EV2 Paddle ReviewThe Ronbus EV2 is a powerhouse paddle that stands out for its impressive energy return and spin capabilities, although it’s worth noting that it’s not a USAPA-approved paddle due to its exceptional power. As an instructor and avid player, I’ve found that the EV2 brings a unique edge to the game.Power and Energy Return:The standout feature of the EV2 is its incredible power, thanks to the EVA foam core, which delivers outstanding energy return. When you hit softly, the ball comes off the paddle with just the right amount of touch, but when you hit hard, the paddle responds with explosive power. This dynamic range allows you to control the pace of the game and catch your opponents off guard.Control:Despite being a power-heavy paddle, the EV2 offers decent control. The EVA foam helps to absorb shock and gives a more forgiving feel on softer shots, making it easier to execute dinks and resets when needed. The balance between power and control makes it an adaptable option, allowing you to transition smoothly from aggressive drives to delicate touch shots.Spin:The EV2 excels in generating spin, thanks to its textured surface. The paddle grips the ball effectively, allowing for insane topspin, backspin, and sidespin. This level of spin makes it challenging for opponents to predict the ball’s trajectory, giving you a significant advantage during rallies.Build Quality and Feel:The paddle feels solid and well-constructed, with a comfortable grip that fits securely in your hand. Its lightweight design allows for quick reactions at the net, while still providing the stability needed for power shots from the baseline.Final Thoughts:The Ronbus EV2 is an outstanding paddle for players who want to dominate with power and spin. While it’s not USAPA-approved due to its strength, it’s an excellent option for recreational play or for those who want to push their game to the next level. The dynamic range of the EVA foam core makes it suitable for players who want a paddle that adapts to both soft and aggressive play.Rating: ????? (5/5)Highly recommended for players looking for unmatched power, spin, and versatility on the court!

So fun

Really great paddle. Helps save some shoulder and arm strain due to the effortless power. Got it as a gift for my 80 year old dad.

Lots of power

This paddle has tons of power and is fun to play with. It has plenty of spin and can be controlled. My wife loves playing with this paddle because it gives her the extra power she has a hard time generating on her own. I come from a tennis background and don’t need the extra power and tend to overhit balls with it. It’s a great paddle and made well (why I gave it 5 stars) but it’s not the paddle for me.

HOLY SMOKES

This paddle is a missile launcher. This paddle has both tremendous “power” and “pop”. You will easily dominate your opponents with your drives and put aways. The only downside is this paddle is not approved for tournament play. However it is an amazing proof of concept and shows how incredible future EVA paddles from Ronbus will be. Bring on the Ripple!

Mr.

For me, this paddle is a no brainer! I agree with most reviews in that the paddle has more power at the expense of control. This just takes some getting used to. Shortening my ground strokes solved this problem for me.The no brainer part of this review comes from the reduced vibration of the paddle and thus reduced stress on my body. The last time I had tennis elbow, it lasted for nearly a year! Even if this paddle didn't play as well as it does, it would be well worth the money regarding its ability prevent/reduce injuries. Some players believe that the USAPA will never approve EVA core paddles due to excess deflection. If so, this is like the tail wagging the dog. The EV2 is a superior paddle using the latest in technology. I would think that approval of this product would be a no brainer based on its medical benefits alone!Of note, I've tried two other EVA paddles, the Diadem Vice and the Hudef New Era. They play similarly to the EV2, except the EV2 uses Toray T700 on its face, which is a great surface used on many high end paddles.

Too many drawbacks

The paddle, being experimental with its material choice of EVA foam, has its strengths and weaknesses. While it offers incredible power and excellent noise dampening, its control on dinks is lacking, making it feel excessively poppy. Despite its tremendous spin and drive power, I found its performance on dinks to be one of the worst I've experienced. Moreover, it's worth noting that as of 07/18/2023, this paddle is not allowed in USAPA sanctioned tournaments, rendering it impractical for those intending to use it as their main paddle. After spending hours testing it on the court, I believe its weaknesses overshadow its strengths, making it less suitable for competitive play.

Feels good but….

Paint chips off at an extremely fast rate! I’ll be curious to see what’s left of it after a few games. Not sure if it affects the play at all but is concerning.

Paddles Paddles Paddles!

When looking at the EV1.16, you know you are not looking for a tournament-approved paddle due to its construction materials. However, innovation like this leads to better-approved paddles in the future. Playing with a great weight right out of the box is a super fun paddle, easy swing, excellent control, and power when needed. The most prominent feature is that it's way quieter than ordinary paddles. This could be a significant plus in some courts. If you're looking for a tournament-approved paddle, this isn't the paddle for you. If you want something innovative and are looking forward to new paddle technology, look no further!

Strange sounding paddle. Not USAPA Approved paddle.

Ball really flies off the paddle face! It can be difficult to control because of the bounce off the face. It takes some getting used to. Big thing for me is it’s not approved for tournament play because it doesn’t say “USAPA Approved” on the paddle. I took it to our pickleball court and that is the first thing everyone said so this is now essentially a practice paddle. Hate to spend that amount of money for a practice paddle but I should have read it more thoroughly. Oh well…lesson learned.

Great paddle design

Dong.. Perfect solution...I want to compliment you on your paddle design. The ev1.16 is such a comfortable paddle, I've only had for a week & my elbow & wrist feel 100% better. The paddle seems to absorb any shocking impact on your body & makes playing much more enjoyable...I hope you're able to receive USAP approval. This paddle needs to be in the hands of more players, I'm in my 70s and playing is so much more fun! Thank you, #1 Fan Edwin Bescoe

Excellent Paddle

Very happy with the feel of the EV1.16, it is soft and comfortable. Wonderful control for dinks and my arm is feeling good after several hours of play. Also nice to hear the muted sound; I live not far from a public park/courts and while I don't mind the normal noise, some neighbors are less happy with it, and a paddle like this could make a positive difference in public perception of the game. Looking forward to a tournament approved version in the future too!

Intermediate Player

Love the paddle...here's why: Dinks and 3rd shot drops -- because the ball stays on the paddle longer due to the softness of the foam, you get a better feel for your dinks and 3rd shot drops. Drives -- when hitting drives and serves, the ball rockets off of these paddles (trampoline effect) with more velocity. This takes some getting used to because at first you may be hitting balls long out of play. By throttling down my swing, it is now much easier to control the ball but there was an adjustment period when coming from other paddles. It's nice to now that when I really want to throttle up a shot I have that extra power in my back pocket but to do this you have to generate top spin to bring the ball down. Backspin from slice shots seem to work very well and the paddle does produce excellent spin (top spin or slice shots). Volleys and overheads -- again because of the power of the paddle, your power on volleys and overheads will increase so I had to throttle down my volleys (especially on low balls) to keep in play. Overhead smashes become much faster and more effective. Noise -- the paddle is much quieter than normal paddles and this throws opponents off because they are used to louder sounds when the ball is hit with power and not used to a soft sounding shot coming quickly at them so fast. At first it was hard to change between normal paddles and this foam paddle but after some play I can now adjust my game to the paddle I'm using. For a hard core tournament player, this paddle may not be right for you at this time as it is now illegal and it takes some getting used to. Once these paddles get USPA approval, I am convinced that these paddles will in some form lead the way to the next generation of paddles. It's just that good!

The future

I believe this design is the future of paddles. No more cookie cutter paddles that are all built the same with the only difference being the logos. This paddle has it all, power, control and swing speed. Now with that said, there is for sure a learning curve when playing with it. I don’t believe this is a paddle for beginners, it’s an advanced players paddle. It is/has taken me time to get use to it, even the sound is different and takes time to get use to. The drives seem to be about 2-6” lower than a traditional carbon honeycomb paddle, so top spin is a must if you are a hard hitter. It has plenty of pop but the soft game is just as good, especially if you like to put spin on dinks etc, that’s where this paddle really shines. Even though it’s not legal for tournaments, I believe it’s the future of paddles and get onboard now do your that much further ahead.

Glimpse At The Future

I primarily play tennis (USTA Rated 4.5) but demo'd many Pickleball paddles and own several. For matches I use the Ronbus R1.16 &/or Engage Omega Evolution Extreme X 16mm. I pull out the Ronbus EV1 &/or Diadem Vice ONLY when other players do not frown on non-traditional paddles. This review took a long time after playing pickleball with friends and incorporates comparison, determination, and measure. Having a tennis background nothing in pickleball is fast per se, but in comparison to traditional paddles, EVA foam based paddles play noticeably faster. UN-like traditional surfaces & polymer foundations, EVA paddles are compressible just by using your fingers, which translates to more of a trampoline effect on the ball. Instead of constant clacking , EVA results in a softer & dampened oomph/thud. Apparent right off the paddle is that they just feel better, more comfortable, all strokes are much easier, and they afford advanced playability in ALL aspects - hits, spin, control, power, feel, sound, etc, and having MORE FUN. Simply put: wins are easier. In comparison to the Diadem Vice, balance is very similar, but I like that the EV1 weighs a bit more OOB. Just by picking it up the EV1 feels more solid than the Vice which makes interesting the question of COMPOSITION, materials, construction, layers, etc, of both paddles, which most of us will never know unless we reverse engineer everything. The EV1's 3D relief surface translates to tiny little bumps over the entire face resulting in better grip, thereby spin. The Vice's entire surface feels sandy similar to traditional paddles but not sure what the material is, and 26 gaping holes through the face allows for wielding aerodynamics. Everyone should lobby to get EVA foam paddles USAP approved for tournament play -- let's all work on this revolution. When the EV1, or future generations, do get approved, Ronbus will immediately propel to major league status, sales will skyrocket, and tournaments will be more exciting. Approval is NOT on Diadem's radar as it applies to the Vice. In fact, Diadem sponsors tournaments where ONLY EVA Foam paddles are allowed.

This is an incredible paddle. The comfort level is great and has really helped me be able to play several times a week without getting a sore elbow and shoulder like I have been experiencing with other paddles. If you have tennis elbow issues, this paddle is the one for you. It is a quiet paddle; this would be an excellent choice for players in communities with sound restrictions as well. The power and control of this paddle is unbelievable. I would highly recommend to anyone to give this paddle a try. You won't regret it.
